about

Boundary Objects combines percussion and field recording with a set of found plastic objects collected from coastline litter, office garbage and personal consumption. Considering the accumulation of plastic in our lives as something which permeates environments and bodies, the recording alternates between two approaches: activated objects and mediated cityscapes.
Activated objects are percussion improvisations using these found plastics as sound sources. Mediated cityscapes are urban field recordings made with microphones placed in different plastic containers or behind layers of plastic sheets and bags which shape the sound of the sites.

Originally created for a sound installation in 2018 for the Architecture and the City Festival in San Francisco with its theme of future cities.
Current version edited in 2020.
